In His Grip: Evening Daily Devotional

Grace to you & peace from God our Father & the Lord Jesus Christ.

“In His Grip” is July 24’s evening entry from Dr. David Jeremiah’s ‘Walking with God: 365 Daily Devotions’.

"Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139:10

We teach our children to grip our hand before crossing a busy street. Toddlers walk confidently as long as they remain hand in hand with Mom or Dad.

Joni Eareckson Tada understands the value of holding the hand of God. In fact, she signs all her correspondence, “In His Grip.” It’s where this writer claims she needs to be at every moment of her life. A diving accident at age 17 left her a quadriplegic, and though her hands are immobile, she feels safest and most productive when she is hand in hand with God.

For Christians, there is no safer place for us than in the hand of God. The psalmist writes that God’s hand was involved in our creation, our birth, and the planning of our life and our future. His hand is strong, trustworthy, and sure.

If you know Jesus as your personal Savior, you are in His grip. You rest in the hands that belong to the eternal God, the First and the Last. The One who overcame death. The One who knows your future. You can trust that He is guiding you every step of the way, and He is caring for every part of your life. You are in good hands.

To end a quote from Oswald Chambers, “A saint’s life is in the hands of God like a bow and arrow in the hands of an archer. God… goes on stretching till His purpose is in sight, then He lets fly.”

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
