You’ve Always Had The Power: Daily Devotional

“You’ve Always Had The Power” is September 1st’s entry from Dr. David Jeremiah’s ‘Turning Points with God: 365 Daily Devotions’.

"The Word of God is living and powerful." Hebrews 4:12

There is a famous scene at the end of The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy misses her opportunity to return to Kansas by hot air balloon and believes she will never be able to go home. All of a sudden, Glinda appears and says to her, “You’ve always had the power to go back to Kansas.” Dorothy later recounts what she has learned: “If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard.”

If you own a Bible, then you need not look any further for guidance, instruction, healing, and inspiration. So often we search for the meaning of life and the solutions to our problems in the latest book, motivational video, or support group. While there is nothing wrong with those things, they do not contain the living power that God’s Word does.

When we start to wrap our minds around how powerful Scripture really is, a whole new world will open up to us as believers. And as we seek out direction in our lives, we’ll begin to look no further than the Bible on our nightstand.

Hide God’s Word in your heart, harness the power contained within its verses, and use it like the powerful resource it is!

To end, a quote, “Our lives are a manifestation of what we think about God.”
