“Good Plans” is September 28’s entry from Dr. David Jeremiah’s ‘Turning Points with God: 365 Daily Devotions’.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you." Isaiah 43:2
A reporter in Alaska, working on an article about caregivers, interviewed a woman who was caring for her husband as he battled chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was afraid to leave his side, but the strain was wearing her down. “It’s sort of a helpless and hopeless feeling,” she said. “You quickly become exhausted.”
Perhaps you’re a caregiver who can relate to those feelings. Or perhaps other factors in your life are producing feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and exhaustion. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that God knows the plans He has for those who love Him–and that they are good plans. He’ll give you needed strength for each day, and His purposes will prevail in your life.
Take a moment right now to remind yourself that although you may not understand it all, God is working out His plan for you in Christ Jesus, working all things together according to the good counsel of His will (Ephesians 1:11). You can trust His guidance.
To end, a quote from Anna Waring,
“In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall fear.
And safe in such confiding, for nothing changes here.
The storm may roar without me, my heart may low be laid,
But God is round about me, and can I be dismayed?”
I’d like to add my favorite Bible verse,
